![]() ![]() It's been some years since last I posted to this section. Almost 4, actually. Sad, really. But here's a little interesting work I'm doing for my wedding. So first, Amanda got this Indonesian (I think) woodblock from a local trinket shop, and we printed a bunch of them until we got a couple that looked clean enough to use. I snapped a crisp photo of one, sent it to my computer, changed it to a 2-color motif and cleaned it up. I took a photo of the pendants we got carved for us in New Zealand, traced them, made some subtle changes and digitally superimposed them on the print. Then, because woodblock printing is a pain when one doesn't have the right supplies, we sent it to a custom rubber stamp maker and got stamps made which we can more easily use on invitations and the like. 03.29.05 this piece was painted while hanging loosely about 6 feet off the ground at the bottom of a four-story stairwell in 1998. i started four stories away from the canvas with some very liquidy acrylic paints. as i walked down the stairs, i was able to exert more and more control and direction for the paint's destination, but by and large gravity did most of the work. it existed in rolled form for many years, then in 2004 i finally stretched it and displayed it at the Brandeis Festival of the Arts along with several other gravity paintings I had done since. ![]() click the image for a larger version 01.17.05 ![]() click the image for a larger (100kb) version | |
