Always a fan of the macabre fiction of H.P. Lovecraft, I felt compelled by some unearthly force to dismember a few beanie babies(tm) and sew them back together with a few modifications. Behold the result! This one-of-a-kind item was SOLD at WorldCon in Boston a couple years back.

this piece is entitled "all that's left of edwin jr." due to the fact that the old wooden hanger i found to mount it on had the name "edwin jr." written in faded ink on the front. the piece itself is knitted out of rubber tubing. the stitching is a bit sloppy, but i've never knit in this material before, so i hope it can be forgiven. people have compared it to intestines, or a curled skin. i have to wonder whether the same imagery would have been noticed had i named it something else.

meet "Cybele". she won the award for "best 3d amateur popular vote" (whatever that means ... i mean, who voted?) at this year's Arisia. i created her in 1998 on a jagged glass and mirrored base which unfortunately could not be moved easily. in 2004 i mounted her on a very large old hard drive whose motor i reassembled on the outside of the case. thus, she spins smoothly around. she's for sale for a mere $200 plus shipping. email me if you're interested.
